For this week's blog post I decided to attend a Hershey Bear's hockey game. Not only visiting Hershey Park and Chocolate World is on the York(ian) bucket list. Experiencing the essence and spirit of Hershey is on the bucket list as well. The best way to do this is to attend a Hershey hockey game. Here, you can feel the excitement in the air as people cheer, laugh, and holler while at the ice rink. In this way, I could understand that people hold strong emotion toward Hershey and the memories they evoke on it's visitors.
A Hershey Bear's game is specifically american because the Bears are in the AHL. This stand for the American Hockey League, in which 27 teams reside in the United States, and 3 are in Canada.
Prior to my family arriving at the GIANT Center, we ate at Red Robin. I think this is typical for most Bear's fans, because I saw so many people with their jerseys in this restaurant. I believe Red Robin has a strong association with the Bears, because their mascot was running around on their ice rink.
After we ate, we ran back to our car. It was pouring, dark, and cold. However, it didn't matter - for we were heated by adrenaline because of the excitement for this game. We had the blessing of being given tickets by our friends, who happened to be McDonald's owners. These tickets were for the suites that had much better seating and view that regular seating. We entered the suite parking lot, and hurried inside a back entrance. There, people checked our ticket and gave us a Hershey Park ticket.
We entered a elevator that led up to the main floor where all the snacks and stands are located.

I also saw plenty of photos of Bear's teams that had won the Calder Cup in the past.
We had finally entered our suite. It was a nice room, with a television, kitchen, sofa and chair, tables, and nice seating that overlooks the rink.

I sat with my sister and we waited for the game to start. It was Hershey Bears versus the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The game started - and Hershey scored in the first 4 minutes of the game. The Tigers quickly struck back and it was 1-1 at intermission.
Hershey scored again in the 2nd period, and the score was 2-1 at the next intermission. I noticed with every Hershey goal, the crowd roared - so much where I wanted to cover my ears. This was astonishing because the seats were not even filled, and there was an attendance of over 10,000 that emitted a huge cheer.
In the 3rd period, Hershey scored 2 more goals to make it 4-1. It seemed like the game was over. Everyone knew there would be fights, and they actually did occur.

The fights must have sparked something in the Tigers, because they quickly scored 2 goals on power plays. The score was now 4-3, and the game seemed like it would be an upset. However, Hershey scored another 2 for a final of 6-3. The game was fun to watch and a great experience of the sport, the crowd, and the players.
