I've visited New York City two times before, and my brother has been once, but my mom has never been to New York City. Last year we planned a trip to the big apple around Christmas time, but we didn't get a chance to go. This year, my mom still had tickets for the train and we decided to go. We woke up really early and got on the train in Lancaster to make our way to NYC. It was so much fun taking the train in because when we were about twenty minutes outside of the city we could see the famed skyline, which was so neat to see.
The New York Skyline has probably endured the most significant changes since our nation has founded. It started out as a grassy peninsula on the eastern border of the Atlantic ocean. Then as people began settling in America, New York City became a populous port for trade with other nations. Over time, considering it was in a great location, people began to see the potential in the growing city. Buildings sprang up overnight, business flooded the place, and it became a tourist attraction. New York was born a “star.” People go to New York to achieve their dream, to pursue their hopes and wishes. “There’s nothing you can’t do” in New York, its a unique experience all in it’s own. There’s just something about the city that fills you and its filled with excitement in itself.
I think that it’s so neat to look at pictures and see the evolution of the skyline, and imagine what it was like in the city years ago. How was it that New York became the city that never sleeps? Was it just by chance that people were drawn to the small peninsula? What would have life in New York City been like hundreds of years ago before it had become the bustling city that it is today?

Until 1664 the Dutch had control over (previously named Nutten Island by the Algonquin people), "New Amsterdam." Then in the year 1664 the British seized New Amsterdam from the Dutch and gave the land a new name, New York (City). For the next century, the population of New York City grew larger and more diverse: It included immigrants from the Netherlands, England, France and Germany; indentured servants; and African slaves. New York City served as the capital of the United States for five years, from 1785 to 1790.

Rockefeller Center is probably my favorite attraction, I love to see the ice skating in the winter and the christmas tree is breathtaking. When you get to the top the intense view of the city is so beautiful there aren't enough words to describe it, a picture is worth a thousand words:
